Is there a way that I can backup everything one T2e 2020 to my laptop and the restore to another T2e?
Everything I’ve found is using Google and the cloud for backup/restore. I don’t want to use Google; I want to use my laptop. I want to take everything off my old T2e and move it in tact to my replacement T2e, O/S, apps, pics, data, etc., everything.
I can easily backup my laptop by cloning my boot drive. Is the a way that I can similarly clone one T2e’s motherboard/drive and then copy it to another T2e?
There isn’t a convenient/safe way to do this since Google deprecated adb backup a number of Android versions ago.
Your best bet is to copy off standard userdata folders (DCIM, Documents, Pictures, Movies, Downloads, etc) and use the Google Account backup/restore for apps and what appdata they allow to be backed up there.
Saijin,
How do you copy the initial O/S onto new T2es? Can I do the same thing?
Is there a way to talk to the T2e’s NV RAM without O/S support?
Or, do you have to copy the initial O/S to that NV RAM component before it is installed to the new T2e?
I’m assuming that there must be some basic code in a ROM that enables transfer of the first O/S into the new T2e through the USB port. Am I wrong?
I.e., How do you install the first O/S into a new T2e? Through the USB port?
Thanks,
Dave
You can flash via the USB port, from internal storage, or via a microSD card. There are numerous processes depending upon what you want to flash and why. Can you explain further what you want to do?
As for low-level access, it isn’t easy, nor useful, since the whole data volume (at least) is encrypted at rest using the keys in the TEE hardware.
I want to be able to transfer everything, O/S, settings, apps, data, etc., from one T2e to another T2e.
Unfortunately, that isn’t really possible with the way Android’s security model works at this point, at least not without rooting and using tools that require rooting.
