By leapfrogging from v11 to 13 to 14 via ota updates, I am now running my teracube 2e on : 15.0.2+c235e82.zirconia.user
I did this because I was seeing the warnings that this device could not run Google wallet and thought I should at least be on the latest version in case a patch would come along to correct this.
Mostly the upgrade went ok but since going to 13 requiring a full factory reset, most apps managed to reinstall themselves and function from a Google backup but some were missing. So I tried to reinstall them and the two that I am really annoyed about were parking and carshare apps:
Ringo parking app
Zipcar car share app
They both install and run but when trying to login to my account for Ringo or Zipcar it comes up with some unknown error occured message. The login details are correct as I can use the same userid and password to login in on a web browser or a different device. I can only guess that this has some sort of hardware incompatibility on the app version compatible with 15.0.x or this is someway connected to the same authorisation issue the prevents us from using Google wallet.
The Ringo parking app I can at least use a web browser to access my account and book parking from there without the app. However I would need the Zipcar app to unlock zipcars using Bluetooth so without this working I can not hire zipcars, they no longer use Zipcar card in the UK, you must use the app to unlock.
I have tried erasing app storage and cache, removing the.reinstalling them, rebooting device and resetting passwords. But this is not a user id credentials problem, it appears to be something that the app can not do or authorise before it attempts to login.
Anyone else manages to fix any of these type of problems?
Is the Teracube team able to let us know of the Google play authorisation issue is any closer to being fixed?
Or is it looking like this issue might spread to further apps, where upgrading OS means the latest version of the app is now incompatible with Teracube 2e whereas the previous version under a lower version of OS was still working fine.
P.s. I have seen the announcement that Zipcar are ceasing service in the UK next year anyway but this post is more about the worry that more apps will fail to run effectively under the latest OS.
