How to manage/remove google family link approvals? [Answered]

How to Manage Parental Controls on Teracube Thrive: App & Contacts Management (or Disable Thrive Completely)

When you set up a Teracube Thrive phone with a child’s Google account, two parental-control systems run at the same time: Teracube Thrive’s own controls and Google Family Link. Both systems manage app approvals and your child’s contacts.

This means you can end up approving the same app or contact twice — once in Thrive and once in Google Family Link. To avoid the confusion, it is recommended to pick one system to manage your child’s device.

Which option should I choose?

  • (Recommended) Option A — Manage Apps & Contacts with Teracube Thrive. Choose this if you like Teracube Thrive’s parental controls (including its Safe Calling and app management) and just want to stop the duplicate Google Family Link prompts.
  • Option B — Disable Teracube Thrive completely. Choose this if you’d prefer Google’s Family Link experience and don’t need Thrive’s controls.

(Recommended) Option A: Manage Apps & Contacts with Teracube Thrive Parental Controls

If you prefer to manage everything from the Teracube parent app, keep Thrive’s controls on and turn off the overlapping controls in Google Family Link so you’re not approving things twice.

There are two things to turn off in Google Family Link: App management and Contacts management .

Step 1 — Turn off App management in Google Family Link

  1. Open the Family Link app (or go to families.google.com) on the parent’s device.
  2. Select your child’s account .
  3. Tap ControlsGoogle Play .
  4. Under Purchases & download approvals , tap Require approval for .
  5. Select Paid content only .

Your child can now install free apps without a Google Family Link approval, so app management is handled through the Teracube parent app instead.

Tip: If you’d rather remove Google’s app approvals entirely, choose Never instead of Paid content only . “Paid content only” still asks for approval on paid apps and in-app purchases, which is a helpful safety net for most families.

Step 2 — Turn off Contacts management in Google Family Link

  1. Open the Family Link app and select your child’s account .
  2. Tap ControlsContacts, calls & text .
  3. Tap Allowed calls & texts .
  4. Select Anyone .

This stops Google Family Link from restricting your child’s contacts, so Teracube Thrive’s contacts approval is the only one in effect .

Important: Google Family Link’s contact restrictions only apply to Google Phone (Dialer) and Google Messages (and Samsung Messages on watches). They do not apply to Teracube Thrive’s own dialer and SMS/Messages apps. So even if you leave Family Link’s contact restrictions on, they will not filter contacts inside the Thrive dialer or Thrive messaging app — Thrive’s Safe Calling is what manages those. Setting Family Link to Anyone simply avoids confusing double prompts.

Once both steps are done, Teracube Thrive Parental Controls manage your child’s apps and contacts, and Google Family Link stays out of the way.

Option B: Disable Teracube Thrive Completely

If you’d rather use Google Family Link as your only parental-control system, you can have Teracube Thrive disabled on your device.

  1. Find your device’s serial number (on the original packaging, or in Settings → About phone ).
  2. Email the serial number to support@myteracube.com and let us know you’d like Teracube Thrive controls disabled.

Our team will disable Thrive’s controls on the backend for that device.

Note: After disabling Thrive, if you want Google Family Link to manage calls and texts, remember that Family Link’s contact restrictions only work with Google Phone and Google Messages . Make sure your child is using those apps (not Teracube’s dialer/SMS apps), or the contact limits won’t be enforced.
