In an earlier post, which is now closed, you listed the price of a replacement battery as $45. Five years later, it costs €70—a price increase well above the rate of inflation. Replacement batteries from other manufacturers cost €10–20. When will the Teracube battery cost more than the phone itself?

Hi Mat - I understand your frustration. Our battery is custom made in small quantities for Teracube 2e/2s and hence costs much higher than other batteries.
Hi Sharad, I can accept paying double the price for small batches, but not four times as much. This raises the question: why wasn’t a standard size used? I know there’s no standard for cell phones, but batteries aren’t rocket science anymore.
In Europe, easily replaceable batteries will be mandatory starting next year. How do you plan to compete with that?
The battery for the Gigaset GS3 fits and costs 1/3 of the price. It isn’t “custom-made” or gold-plated, but it’s exactly the same…
Just a Question to the engineers. Why is it not possible to standardize a battery. Please do not use the story that every new model of cell phone requires more energy, or the energy density story. This is not only with the cell phone industry it is also with the Camera industry. Every model must have a new and improved battery size or shape. Is this technical or marketing? There has been standardization with the A and C cells for almost a century whether they are Carbon, NiCad or Lithium
The answer is simple: there’s no profit to be made from a standard battery. And the only reason this post hasn’t been deleted yet is probably because it’s the weekend.
