Power button getting less responsive over time

I’ve noticed that the power button on my 2e is getting worn out; it’s like 50% of the time when I press it, nothing happens and I need to press it very firmly for it to do anything at all. Making screenshots is also pretty hit and miss because of that.

Is this a known issue? Is it covered by warranty?

Yes - this is covered under warranty. Personally, this is the reason I like features like double tap to wake, double tap to sleep. I also use a 3rd party app called “Turn off screen” - I configure it and then make a shortcut on my homescreen. 1-tap locks the screen.
