Hello - I am having an issue where the screen is not turning off during a phone call when I take the call directly from the phone. I wonder if it is a sensor issue or a software issue. Anyone has the same challenge? Any solution for this? Thanks.
Hi @alakshma - could you try the steps listed on this post. Assuming that this was working earlier, it is possible that the issue is being caused by a software state glitch.
Wait, that’s intended? I find it stupid inconvenient - not that the screen stops responding when it’s against my face, but that pulling it away means I have to turn it on, which usually means i have to put in my pattern code again to get to the phone app and hang up. Or, if I want to put it back on speakerphone (when I’ve been put on hold, for example.)
Sorry if this derails, not sure where else to put it, please rehome as needed.
Is my device doing something unintended here?
Also, where would I put a comment about how the number pad overlays the speakerphone button making me have to close the number pad to access the button to turn on/off.

You can try the following:
-
Reboot the phone. This fixed the issue for the Original requester.
-
Make sure you are not hitting the power button during a call.
-
Clear Phone app cache and storage by following steps here.
-
Do a backup and factory reset.
Let us know if the issue persists after following these steps.
