SD memory issues

I am still trying to figure out how to get my SD memory card from my old phone [LG] to work on my Terracube 2e.

My 2e only gives me the option to reformat it. I can’t do that as it has 30+ GB of pictures, downloads, etc, etc.

Not sure what the format is of my SD, probably either FAT 32 or Fat ext4 [some thing like that]

Just updated to the Dec 17, 24 update.

Try this: Backup the phones SD card. Format the card, copy the backup to the phones SD card.

CFA, thanks for hoping in here. So yeah, I could

take the SD out,
copy it to my desk top,
put it back in the phone,
format it,
connect my phone to my computer,
copy the files from my computer to the phone.

Providing it actually works.

Rhetorical question here… why in the heck does Murena make it so hard. Like I got all day to do this kind of stuff, right?

Wish I was a little more tech savvy. I’ve been procrastinating, did not want to have to do all that…lol

What happens when you don’t? If I remember correctly I removed the SD card from a Samsung and installed it in a 2e. I was asked to format and answered no. The e2 could read the card. If you haven’t gone the rabbit hole I pointed to try it. Backup the SD card incase that doesn’t work.

It has been awhile since I tired that. Can’t remember what message popped up next. I don’t think it goes directly into formatting the SD card [that would be very bad] but I should back it up to my computer regardless before any thing.

Hopefully will get to it in the next couple of days. Right now I am trying to use up my orchard apple by making apple butter and inbetween stirring setting up a crypto wallet and signing up for an crypto exchange.

If it is formatted as External Storage, you generally can move the card.

However, if it was formatted as App or Internal Storage, you can not move it. You can only format it.

Ahhh…
If that is the case, then you are on to something. It’s been at least 3 years or so since I put that SD card in my LG phone. So no Idea how I did it.

If I had to guess, I would have used it to be able to remove it and work with it on my desk top. So what would that make it? External, right?

Don’t need to reply… I was just thinking out loud.
When I get the motivation I will take the long route. Thank you so much for your help.

Yeah, external formats it as (usually) FAT32 with MBR partitioning so it is universally* compatible (as much as anything). I would be surprised if it was external and other devices can’t use it.

Internal or App storage formats it sometimes as a different filesystem like F2FS that not everything can understand, and also often sets up whole-disk encryption with the key bound to the TEE hardware in your phone.
