Teracube 2e will not power on, I need the data from it

I bought this phone for a buddy in 2021, I got four at once for family use.

He brought this one to me and it won’t start up. He told me it was having problems charging before, but if he swapped in a charged battery from another 2e it would go. That’s not working anymore. He also mentioned that it got an OS upgrade a few weeks before, but no obvious relation. I’ve tried various button press combinations typical for Android phones with no response.

I’m also finding out he has three years of contacts, call history, SMS, and photos that he uses in his business that aren’t backed up. He’s in a bind.

What are my options? I’m not afraid to take it apart, I have experience and tools, but don’t have experience in mobile phones. I have another working Teracube 2e sitting here as well that boots and works.

Is the only good path to ship it back to Teracube?

Welcome!

We do not do data retrieval/recovery, so if you ship it to us, it is to have it warranty-replaced.

It sounds like the board is dead if nothing revives it (new battery, different chargers, button presses, etc).

Do you know if the device got wet at any point?

Not that I KNOW of, I think he would have told me, but I’ll ask him.
