Green means that your phone is happy with the update for that specific thing.
Basically, that specific one means that Google Play store has installed the current updates and won’t block Netflix and other ‘protected’ apps from installing.

No, not at all. It will update in the background on its own as far as it can, and major build upgrades will take it further.
You dont need to manage it, but knowing if it is out of date can help you understand why some apps may refuse to download or run.
