USB Debugging on broken screen

My screen is broken, and I had a new phone shipped to me. I’m hoping to backup my texts onto my Mac before switching the phones at the UPS store and sending my old one back. I downloaded a backup program (fonedog), but it can’t get access to my phone via the USB. I need to enable USB Debugging remotely, and can’t figure out how to do that.

Any suggestions?

  1. Did you not have the google backup enabled (they enable it by default unless you disabled it during setup)?

  2. Enabling USB debugging is a security risk. Hence it might not be possible to enable it remotely if you hadn’t done it prior.
