[Alpha] Android 13.0.4 for Teracube One Ruby (SN:2019)

Note 1: Upgrading to Android 13 requires a factory reset because of a change in encryption methods by Google. Teracube One previously used Full Disk Encryption (FDE), but Android 13 uses File-Based Encryption (FBE). This switch necessitates a clean install and data wipe. Back up all your important data before proceeding.

Note 2: Future updates can be installed via OTA upgrade without wiping data (after installing this alpha).

Note 3: We’re considering future upgrades (certified), and Android 14 is a possibility based on user demand.

We are thrilled to share our 1st Alpha (13.0.4+d6335f8) Android 13 for Teracube One.

Steps to Upgrade:

SP Flash Build (link) (Note: SPFlash software and flashing instructions are here)

Current known issues:

  • Uncertified build (more info Android 12/13.)
  • Wifi calling does not work (VoLTE works)

Screenshots:

Let us know how it went and post your questions/feedback here. Please keep the comments related to this update itself.

If you experience any errors/issues, you can flash the original factory firmware using the SP Flash.

Additional SD storage is not being allowed to be viewed as “internal storage” despite reformatting as same

did you get the SD to be recognized as internal memory? if so how? Also did the no WIFI calls issue get resolved?
thanks

Great (that some version of an Android 13 build is finally available for the Teracube One)! With that said, where can one find a production build, or even a “beta” build, of Android 13 for the Teracube One, more than a year after the “alpha” build was released?

Where is the comprehensive, well-written, tested and proof-read documentation on upgrading the OS on a Teracube One running Android 10? If the Teracube One firmware must be reinstalled or upgraded to support Android 13, where is the tested, English-language version of the firmware tool (with comprehensive documentation and all of the required files)?

There still is not, as of yet, a public release of anything newer for the TeraCube_One (ruby) device.

The above ROM and flash instructions are what is current.

Has any progress been made on the Android 13 build?

It’s been about a year since any updates on Android 13 surfaced and it’s been ages since the last stable Teracube One update.

Currently, no, the above build is the latest/current build for the One/ruby units.

Do you have a specific timeframe for a full release of Android 12 or Android 13?

Android 12/13 are deprecated. If we do release any new firmware it would be 15/16

Do you have a specific timeframe for a full release of Android 15 or Android 16? (Or whatever the latest version of Android is by the time you read this message?

There wont be a full release especially an OTA over existing user because device is too old and there are several new standards enforced each Android version. We will release easy to use end user tools to help them migrate if they choose to. There’s no timeline yet but maybe within this month. (Likely Android 16 QPR2?)

No spoilers

What sort of migration tools are you talking about? Do you mean for migrating to Android 15 or 16 or do you mean for migrating to some other phone? And when can we expect an public announcement related to the Teracube One? It’s been a while since we were emailed about Teracube One related news.

Teracube A10 → A16 direct jump via OTA is not possible. Potentially might have an intermediary A12 build before moving to A16.
