You’ll need to reset the phone if it got to that state, but it will load fine afterwards and you can then restore your Android account and any backed-up data.
Hi,
I have strange issue. My zirconia phone is on 11.0.4, and I downloaded the OTA update for 11.0.5, or at least I thought I did. When I tried to do the update, the phone appeared to reboot and update without any issues. But when I checked the version, it still shows 11.0.4. I tried to download and update again, and I noticed that it had the wrong version on the apply update screen.
Can I manually download and update to 11.0.5? and then do the rest of the upgrade to 13?
Hi, the apply update screen shows your current installed version instead of new update its expected. Just hit Ok and it should reboot to install the update.
I tried to do the OTA update a few times already. But it still shows 11.0.4 in the build number. The 11.0.5 update doesn’t seem to work. Is there another way to check the version or do the update?
A new update with security updates upto March 5 2025, is now available! You can either check the main thread for manual installation or wait a week for it to arrive automatically!
I would suggest to backup and perform a factory reset. Have you ever modified your system by rooting it?
No, I haven’t rooted it. I think the only update I did was going to 11.0.4 from the stock image a few years ago. Can you send me the direct link to the 11.0.5 image? Maybe something is broken with the OTA update. I can try local update instead.
You can long press on the update dialog to get URL or export the downloaded build.
Ok, I did the factory reset. I tried to install the 11.0.5 image both via OTA and local update, but neither worked. I also downloaded and tried to install the 13 image and update locally, but that also failed. I don’t see any error messages though. The phone just reboots and I am still on 11.0.4.
Could you follow the bottom link to fresh install firmware in main post?
Yes, I downloaded the 13.2.0 version and copied it to my phone for local update. But it didn’t work. The phone just rebooted back to 11.0.4 instead. Is there another way to do the update?
Something has went wrong with your 11.0.4. We will recommend to clean flash factory firmware using [Teracube 2e] Instructions to Install Factory Software and to Reset
I did the clean flash factory firmware reset. This got me back to Android 10. I was able to install 13.2.0, and it appeared to work initially. I did the initial setup and powered it off to recharge. But when I powered back on, it got stuck in on the initial Android screen for over 20 minutes. I tried to hold down the power button to force a power off, and then it went into a boot loop.
I did the clean flash factory firmware reset again, and installed 13.1.1. This appears to reboot normally, without getting stuck on the Android screen, or in a boot loop.
It takes 3-4 minutes on android screen. Google is behind that for loading modules. It might also be updating Play system updates.
Did you get through it?
Yes, I am running on 13.1.1 now. It seems stable. NFC doesn’t seem to work though, and I can’t save photos onto the sdcard using the default camera app.
Android 13 made a number of changes to how things can read/write to external storage.
You might want to try OpenCamera, and enable Camera API 2 and Storage Access Framework (required for apps to write to external storage).
This could be an oversight, or general dumb question…
… but the top post doesn’t appear to link to the zip file?
I swear, I’ve read that thing 6 times, looking for the friendly link, so I can attempt to DL the latest version… But it’s not there. (The Emerald version has a link in ITS post, all blue and clickable… But not here.)
I’m currently stuck at 13.0.3 - the OTA update to 13.0.4 has been sitting in my System options for months, but it doesn’t take.
I wiped and factory reset once, several months ago - and it stalled at the same update again.
I just wanted to see if updating would fix some of the random freezes and resets I’ve had for ages.
Seeing a RECENT update, rather than the OTA from last June, got my hopes up…

Here’s the direct link:

It is the text that says “All other Zirconia users”
Thanks!
Now I feel like a doofus… apparently I HAD clicked on that, probably during one of my passes through the notes - but the download didn’t show up in a notification - so it’s been sitting in my folder waiting to do the local update since before I posted.
SMH
Keeping fingers crossed that this improves how my phone behaves.
