I think it is encouraging to see that they managed to release a certified Android 11 build after all. Taking into account their seemingly limited resources I think it is reasonable to move their resources to Android 12, although this means we will see no (security) updates for our phones for the time being. I very much hope 12 comes out any time soon, certified version that is.
Sharad mentioned that the are busy with the 11.0.4 FOTA rollout back in November last year.
I have yet to receive this update and it seems to me that their focus is entirely on Android 12 now based on comments I have read.
What I find as deceiving is that they put my hopes up with this empty promise and then proceeded to ditch the FOTA release out of the blue to focus on Android 12.
All I ask for is support for my device and they seem to keep dropping the ball on that front.
Not to mention that the whole point of a FOTA release is for updates to be pushed to all Teracube users.
Now only the people who visit the forums and are willing to update manually get any sort of support.
Even when I open the software updater now and check for updates, it states that there are no updates available, which is clearly not the case.
If you want to try out alpha and beta releases, then be my guest and join the forums and update your phone manually. Just donât expect everyone to be enthusiasts such as yourselves. The general public expects updates to be provided via FOTA releases or through the update app.
Hi all,
my 2e (2020) is still at the same âupdateâ level as in my opening post (Android 10 - 4.9.190). It never got any update all the yeas since then! It still reports a security update status as of November 5, 2020!
But since some time I have new hope. For the first time ever, my phone was offering an update:
Four questions: Can I trust it? Will it automatically install after downloading? Does it not break anything? Will it work here in Germany without restrictions?
Going to 11 shouldnât wipe your phone as long as the screen lock is still enabled and you give it enough to finish the update, something between 20-60 minutes.
If, after applying that update, it offers you some version of 13 OTA, that one WILL require wiping your phone to complete, but if youâve got a recent Google (or other) backup, then you should have most of the data saved.
Can someone from the team confirm that this update is problem-free? Would it be possible to undo it if something should go wrong?
I ask because since buying the 2e, although it works well for the most part, I have not had the best impressions of teracubeâs update policy. This has cost trust.
For example, Iâm a bit concerned because some time ago a (manual) update was offered that was told to work only to a limited extent here in Europe. Among other things, Sharad said that it could not be used near a national border. I definitely donât want to experience negative surprises like that.
I am not from âthe teamâ but u should definitly go to Android 13 to the end, and have an complete backup ready for that. Updating an android version to an higher level >can< be problematic on >any< android phone. If you use Google backups, this shouldnât be too bad, as Mayme said. But be sure you have an extra Backup of your banking und messenger apps.
