Android 16.2.0 for Teracube 2e 2nd Batch Emerald (SN: 2021)

Thanks for the info. I had the same issue. Switched my Wi-Fi access point’s security mode from WPA2/WPA3 to WPA2 only and the phone could then connect.

Thanks for reporting the WPA3 issue. Devs are looking into it.

Since installing both phones have been unresponsive periodically and and also reboots periodically

Seems like reboots are more often today it rebooted in middle of call.

Are you using a microSD as Shared Internal Storage perchance?

I have encountered two issues after upgrading:

  1. phone turns off during the night/when being charged (might be that it restarts and then turns off when i don’t enter my pin?)

  2. the notifications of the app timetree do not work anymore. might be that other apps are affected too and i haven’t noticed. did the standard trouble shooting (authorisations, battery saver, cache, re-install)

We are working on Android 16 QPR2 release with latest security patches. This update will fix WPA3 issues, some improvements to app retention in memory along with new Material 3 Expressive UI across Quick Settings, Status bar, Launcher & Settings :wink: (Should be arriving soon!)

New update available with QPR2 and Feb 2026 security patches!

Issues with WPA 3 and restarting apps are fixed on my device since the last update.

The problem with the phone turning off seems to be gone after the update

However the missing notification problem is still around

There is one more issue I discovered.
I can’t charge with usb-c to usb-c cables anymore.

I tried multiple chargers and cables.
Same chargers worked if I plug in a usb-a to usb-c cable. And other devices charged with the cables.

Hi, Teracube 2e doesn’t support pd meaning c to c cables will not work. This is a hardware side limitation and not sw. If it worked before it’s just random and may or may not work. You can use a type a to c cable.

There were a few betas where they hardcoded the charger to always treat USB-C as charging, but it broke connecting to external storage and some other stuff, so they went back to the way it had been. If you want to use a high-powered USB-C, you need to use something like this connector. I did buy one (and case) for both of our TC2e Zirconia and they allowed charging to work properly.

I have discovered a potential other issue:
Apps fully restart/reload when i am switching between apps

@stehe Can confirm this.

I talked with the dev team, and this is a new change in A16 with how background tasks are handled by Android’s task killer.

In prior versions, it mostly was concerned with amount of available RAM/swap space and would kill apps that were least recently used or very resource-intensive.

Now, it is looking mostly at recent CPU-usage for background tasks, and killing those that are more CPU-hungry, regardless of amount of available RAM/swap.

So, this change in behavior should result in better standby battery life, but is apparently a bit aggressive on older SOCs with CPUs that need to work longer/harder, like ours.

I would expect this to get some tuning as time goes on, but at least for now, this is what it is.

Edit:

The team have already adjusted the behavior for 16.2.0 to be more similar to prior Android versions, but it still might behave a bit differently due to changes in the OS and how background tasks are handled.

@stehe , @Jannic

Can you give us an idea of what apps you are using when you get the background task killer behavior consistently?

@Saijin_Naib Gladly!
Most disruptive is it in combination with MFA.
Like solely running brave browser, paypal etc
Then switching to ms authentificator, messages etc to verify and the session is gone.
That’s pretty much constant.
If the Devs need more info just message me :slight_smile:

I agree with Jannic, it’s a pretty constant thing across all apps.

Thanks for reporting - seems like the 2nd-most-recent app is also getting killed. Devs are taking a look at this.
